FTA UE, New Zealand, trade and biological diversity

EU and New Zealand recognise, in their free trade agreement, the crucial role played by protection of the biological diversity in the trade relationships under this FTA.

Therefore they:

  1. implement measures to combat illegal wildlife trade;
  2. promote the long-term conservation and sustainable use of CITES-listed species;
  3. promote trade in products derived from the sustainable use of biological resources in order to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity;
  4. take appropriate action to conserve biological diversity when it is subject to pressures linked to trade and investments;
